- Don’t Chew Gum- Gum may be good for the breath but the excess air swallowed when chewing gum adds air to your belly. Stick with mints instead.
- Skip the Salt- Salt leads to water retention so cut back on the added salt. Most foods already have added salt so any extra salt is going to cause more water retention.
- Steam Your Veggies- They have as much nutritional value as the raw veggies, but they are much easier for your stomach to digest which causes less bloat.
- Say No to Fake Sugar- Diet drinks and other foods with artificial sweeteners cause bloat because they are not as easy to break down as regular sugar. If you can’t cut them completely, at least try to cut back.
- Take a Probiotic- and eat your fiber too. The good bacteria in probiotics help your digestive system run smoothly as does fiber. A lot of healthy snack bars and cereals are now adding fiber, so check the labels. Daily recommended value is 25 grams.
